Job Description:
DescriptionSUMMARY OF POSITION:Patriot Rail Company is seeking a
self-motivated, team-oriented attorney that can manage assignments
and workload with minimal supervision with a can-do attitude to
join its legal team. The Staff Attorney will assist with the
handling of in-house legal matters with a focus on employment
related matters and claims management. The successful candidate
will have outstanding research, writing, negotiation, and
communication skills, with sharp attention to detail. ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Perform legal research and analysis*
Provide guidance to the Human Resources Department with employment
matters, including hiring, termination, discipline, promotion,
performance management, and company policies and procedures.* Draft
and review contracts or agreements and other legal documents.*
Support business units with legal guidance on operational issues.*
Conduct due diligence in a variety of situations including but not
limited to, business contracts, M&A and compliance of policy
and procedures* Assist with litigation and regulatory matters*
Advise and assist with company risk management program, including
but not limited to, insurance oversight and claims management*
Additional duties as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS:* Juris Doctor (JD)
degree from an ABA-approved law school* Licensed to practice law
and in good standing with the Florida Bar Association or licensed
to practice law in another U.S. jurisdiction and able to be
certified as authorized house counsel in Florida.* Previous
railroad experience preferred but not required* A minimum of 5
years of applicable experience in-house or in a law firm* Previous
experience in employment law, general litigation management, and
contract drafting highly preferred.* Excellent oral and written
communication, negotiation and drafting skills* Ability to
effectively present information and respond to questions from
groups of managers, clients and vendors* Reasoning Ability -
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.* Computer Skills - To
perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge
of Legal Research programs, internet software, spreadsheet software
and word processing software including, but not limited to,
Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint* The applicant selected for
this position will be required to successfully complete a
background check and drug test. Passing results must be received
prior to start date in new position. (Background check may include

Record History, Education Credentials, Employment History,
Reference Checks and Professional License or Certification Review

help when needed PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:Frequently
required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and
arms, write, talk, type and hear. Occasionally required to bend
and/or kneel and lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. The associate is
typically in an office environment but may travel and/or visit a
railroad or outdoor environment ANTICIPATED PERCENT OF TRAVEL:5% TO
