Johnson Innovative Medicines R&D, the Data Science & Digital
Health (DSDH) function is charged with applying analytic approaches
to drug discovery and development across Therapeutic Areas. We
drive and shape internal and external collaborations, working
across Janssen's Therapeutic Areas and R&D functions, including
Global Development and other areas.The Global Functions, Data
Science & Digital Health (GF, DSDH) group within the R&D Data
Science organization has the accountability for full scale impact
across the Development pipeline via AI/ML-driven site
recommendation trial design optimization, real-world evidence (RWE)
generation, digital endpoints, decentralized trials, and external
policy, with the key pillars being:
- Manage the development of solutions for the purpose of driving
Trial Acceleration & Optimization using data science, including but
not limited to:
- Enrollment modeling, feasibility analytics, country footprint
expansion, advanced AI/ML modeling for predictive site
recommendations
- Leverage real-world data for patient matching and enhancing
patient representation in clinical trials
- Protocol Design Optimization- evaluating and proposing options
for eligibility optimization, hybrid trials, and decentralized
clinical trials models
- RCT-RWD registries and implementation via data tokenization
across the prioritized portfolio and other RWE innovationsThis
position is responsible for driving the functional performance of
the trial acceleration capabilities and RWE innovation strategies
that accelerate performance for timely, quantifiable business
impact and collaboration across DSDH, GD, Therapeutic Area (TA) and
other partners. Other responsibilities may be assigned depending on
program specific needs.Director, GF DSDH leads or supervises the
data sets generation and data sources to provide scenario planning,
enrollment projections, study enrollment progress modeling, and/or
site recommendations to accelerate study start-up and enrollment
timelines. The Director will be expected to address program
specific issues, and/or responsible for ensuring
pull-through/success rate of identified and activated sites from
First Patient In (FPI) through Last Patient In (LPI).Director, GF
DSDH represents the GF DSDH team to drive infrastructure changes
and tool enhancements to improve capability and technology in
collaboration with GD, BGIA, JJT, GCO and others. This position
also leads the development and/or adoption of new DSDH technologies
and platforms from design specification, build, training,
communication and roll-out.Director, GF DSDH may be responsible for
the resourcing, development, performance management and career
growth of their team and may report to Senior Director or Head,
Global Function, Data Science & Digital Health, in JRD Data Science
Digital Health organization. The Global Development, Data Science &
Digital Health is a diverse and dedicated team with strong
expertise in areas including clinical trial feasibility, protocol
optimization, and program strategy.Role Overview-You will:
- Work with real world data (RWD), clinical trial performance
data, and other industry data sources to support building and
maintaining solutions to improve the study feasibility process,
improve operations outcomes and trial productivity.
- Oversee product management for existing and new solutions,
working with data science colleagues and global development teams
as subject matter experts, perform requirement analysis, assess
data needs, and manage product management for existing and new
software solutions. Including maintaining the product roadmap to
ensure a cohesive product integration vision.
- Drive solution implementation of initiatives, develop testing
strategies, training plans, and other standard enterprise-wide
software implementation strategies. This will include establishing
KPIs to test the usage, and outcomes for the solutions and ensuring
user-engagement.
- Work with internal and external partners to capture data
required to measure outcomes and KPIs, capture data from CRO
partners, internal CTMs and financial systems to ensure to extract
data for measurement of solution outcome.QUALIFICATIONS:Required
- A minimum of a Masters' degree is required. PhD in data-heavy
sciences (physics, genetics, biology, data engineering) or related
is preferred.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in clinical trial
start-up/execution, applied technology, or pharma/biotech/medtech
industry business operations is required.
- 5+ years Data Analytics experience with proven track record of
success for driving forward large initiatives by generating buy-in,
managing multiple complex projects, and continuously completing
excellent quality analytics is required.
- Familiarity with modern software development and product
management tools including, SQL, Python, R, github, Jira, etc.
- People Management and experience leading functional teams with
proven ability to foster team productivity and cohesiveness.
- Experience with enterprise software product management and
oversight of enterprise software solutions with a deep
understanding of clinical development and relevant business
applications.
- Strong and proactive stakeholder engagements skills are
critical to be successful in this role.
- Ability to influence change, define new processes and establish
new team norms.
- Experience in analytical and modelling tools, large data sets,
and data analysis workflows with demonstrated fluency in
statistical and analytical principles delivering robust, timely,
high-quality analytics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability
to deliver focused, concise, clear, and timely data and technology
assessments to Feasibility and leadership team.
- Working knowledge of large life science industry data sets such
as large claims data set and clinical trial performance data and
integration of the data into data modeling, analysis, and software
development processes.Preferred
- Strong Project management and organizational skills with
ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously is
highly preferred.
- Expert in clinical trial operational datasets such as CTMS and
operational benchmarks
- Hands-on experience working with dataset (Healthverity, Komodo)
in the clinical trial feasibility or acceleration models.
- Experience with Integrated Site Analytics, Diversity and
Patient Matching, and tokenization, and real-world models
- Knowledge of Healthcare delivery systems/networks in US and Key
markets preferred.This position may require up to 15% domestic or

this position is $160,000 to 276,000. The Company maintains highly
competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current
guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance
bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The
annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an
incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for
individual and the corporation's performance over a
calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's
